All Creatures of our God and King

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in Heaven along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!

Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice!
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!
 O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
O praise Him! Alleluia!

Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light.
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Worth While - Ella Wheeler Wilcox

It is easy enough to be pleasant,
When life flows by like a song,
But the man worth while is one who will smile
When everything goes dead wrong.
For the test of the heart is trouble
And it always comes with the years,
And the smile that is worth the praises of earth.
Is the smile that shines through tears.

It is easy enough to be prudent,
When nothing tempts you to stray,
When without or within no voice of sin
Is luring your soul away;
But it's only a negative virtue
Until it is tried by fire,
And the life that is worth the honor on earth,
Is the one that resists desire.

By the cynic the sad, the fallen,
Who had no strength for the strife
The world's highway is cumbered to-day,
They make up the sum of life.
But the virtue that conquers passion,
And the sorrow that hides in a smile
It is these that are worth the homage on earth
For we find them but once in a while.

True Happiness

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." - Psalm 32:1

Despite more government regulations, the world shaking at trouble, natural disaster after natural disaster, I AM FREE. My freedom has been payed for once and for all. Throughout history, freedom of people-groups has come through great blood shed, heartache, and pain. No half hearted effort, no gold or silver, no innanimate objects, can purchase true freedom. NO, true freedom is purchased with blood.

Jesus Christ came to purchase the freedom of His people. He came to pay the bride price. He came as a ransom to set us free. What glorious freedom we enjoy because of Him.

If you were to take all of the curses for disobedience in the Bible and place them on Christ, this is what He undertook for you. If you take all the blessings and turn them around into their negative, He drank that cup for you. The wrath of God against sin was in the cup that Christ drank for you.

You stood at God's tribunal. You were put in the balance and found wanting. Guilty, was the charge. As the sentence was being pronounced, Jesus Christ came and received the sentence for you. You stood alone, but Christ came and stood with you. You were naked before the judge, but Christ came and clothed you, and pronounced the words, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." The gavel came down, and your charge was acquitted.

Christ was humbled, so you may be exalted. Christ was naked on the cross, so you may be clothed. Christ wore a crown of thorns, so you may ware a crown of righteousness. Christ descended into Hell, so you can ascend into Heaven. Lastly, Christ ascended into Heaven, so you can forever have an advocate with the Father.

Oh yes, "blessed is the man whose trespass is forgiven, whose sin is covered." Christ is your Lord. Christ has covered your sin. Praise be to the Lord.

"O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for the courts above."

There Will Always Be Something to Do - Edgar Guest

There will always be something to do, my boy;
There will always be wrongs to right;
There will always be need for a manly breed
And men unafraid to fight.
There will always be honor to guard, my boy;
There will always be hills to climb,
And tasks to do, and battles new
From now to the end of time.

There will always be dangers to face, my boy;
There will always be goals to take;
Men shall be tried, when the roads divide,
And proved by the choice they make.
There will always be burdens to bear, my boy;
There will always be need to pray;
There will always be tears through the future years,
As loved ones are borne away.

There will always be God to serve, my boy,
And always the Flag above;
They shall call to you until life is through
For courage and strength and love.
So these are things that I dream, my boy,
And have dreamed since your life began:
That whatever befalls, when the old world calls,
It shall find you a sturdy man.

At the Presence of the LORD

"Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence."   [Isaiah 64:1-3]

How Great Thou Art

O, Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all thy works thy hands hath made,

I see the star, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

And when I think that God His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die - I scarce can take it in,

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great thou art!

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation
And take me home - what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great thou art!

DOES JESUS CHRIST REALLY LIVE???

Fellow Christian, do you live as if Christ really lives? Do you live as if Christ, the eternal son of God, sits at God's right hand and reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords?

If you were walking down the street and saw a man about to run into a burning structure because he did not know better, would you not do everything within your power to stop the man? If you were watching a man running headlong over a cliff, wouldn't you stand in His way? There is a story of a Scottish highland shepherd boy that was tending sheep. While attending sheep, a storm arose over the hills and caught the boy and his flock. Seeking shelter in a cave, the shepherd boy with his flock spent the night. In the morning, the shepherd boy awoke and realized with great horror, that the train tracks that spanned the gulf not far away had been washed away by the storm. The boy ran out of the cave and up the slope to the top of the hill and crashed through the bushes just in time to see a train round the bend and head strait for the gulf. Not knowing what to do, the boy threw himself down on the tracks. The conductor seeking to save the boys life, threw on the breaks, but it was too late. The train stopped just as it was about to plunge its passengers to certain death. The conductor then lead the people in the train to see the mangled body of the boy that had given his life for them. Brethren, we are watching thousands of people running into a burning eternity, a bottomless pit, an eternal torment, and we will not so much as lift a finger to prevent them.

Below I have included a devotional from Grace Gems. Please read it carefully and consider what it says.

An unsaved person's perspective of Christians

I do not believe that you Christians believe your own creed--for if you were persuaded that things really are as your Bibles teach, and that we poor lost people were
really going to such a dreadful place as you say Hell is--then you would act more humanely toward us.

If you saw our
houses on fire--you would run and help us to put the fire out; or if you saw us in danger of death--you would try to do something to save us. But you pretend to believe that we are going to Hell, and that Hell burns with fire and brimstone forever, and that once there we can never get out--and yet you talk to us about all sorts of things--but never say one word to us about saving our souls from this terrible doom!

So I have reasoned thus: either you Christians don't believe what you say--
or else you must be the most hardened and unfeeling wretches in the universe! Now, as I don't believe that you are such cruel, hardened, and unfeeling people as this supposes--then I must conclude that, with all your talk--you Christians don't really believe what your Bibles teach!

For if you really believe what you say about sin, and Hell, and our danger--then you would act differently; and if you have a spark of kindness in your hearts--you would try to save us from such a dreadful doom. And, on the other hand, if you do not
believe what you profess--then you Christians cannot be honest; and to say the least, there must be a great deal of hypocrisy among you.

Now, I honestly tell you that these are the things which have stumbled me more than anything, and until I can see you Christians act differently--I will not be persuaded to believe what your sort of folks say.

Brethren, if we truly believed that Christ lives, we would be fearless in sharing the gospel. Every opportunity that came would be seized with zeal and passion. No person would walk by us without hearing of Christ. No stone would be left unturned. We would compel the nations to fear the Lord. Make this be your prayer. Live as if Christ lives, and may He live in you. Love for the Lord ought to fill your heart, captivate your mind, animate your body, and subjugate your frame. O, fellow man, Christ lives. Go and proclaim His name to the nations. Go with boldness, because He lives. Go with love, because He lives. Go with zeal, because He lives. Do not sit around and utter the word, "board." You have no reason to be board. Christ lives, and there are people that have not the gospel. Go with God, because He lives.
