Our Hearts

I once watched a movie that had this as its message, that fathers often give their hearts to their sons, but sons don't often give their hearts to their fathers. In relation to Malachi 4:6, I thought about this and came to the realization that our hearts need to be turned to our Father. If you read throughout Scripture, there are many people that had given their heart to their Father. In the Old Testament, we read of Enoch, " he pleased God", and Noah, " He found grace in the eyes of God", and Moses, " He chose rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season." We also read of Job, " there is none like him in all the earth, for he fears God and escheweth evil." These men had given their hearts to their Heavenly Father.

In the New Testament, you read of John the Baptist, " Of those born of women there is none greater than John the Baptist", and of John's parents it was said, " And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless." These people had given their hearts to their Maker.

The greatest example of a son giving his heart to his Father is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. He lived on this earth to do the will of His Father. This is our example that we should follow.

God our Father has, if we are his, given His heart to us, as it were. He gave us His only beloved Son to be a mediator for us for all eternity. We must give our hearts to our God.

What does giving our hearts to our Father mean? It means and requires this, that all 0f our energy must be given to our God, for His service. We must not put our hands to the plow and look back. We must strive for perfection; for we are to strive to be perfect as the Lord of Hosts is perfect.

Young men, give your hearts to your God and live for His glory. Soli Deo Gloria.
